Default What should I look for in a credit card?

I have never had anything but a debit card but I want to get a credit card because I keep hearing that you can earn airline miles or cashback or something else good by using one. I would only spend what I normally would with my debit card and pay the balance off every month.

So my question is what card would give me the most or what things should it have for my maximum benefit?

    Thanks in advance

Get one that has no annual fee, first of all. Then, look for the biggest % of cash back or the most miles earned. I have one of each - an American Express and a Mastercard - because some places don't accept AE.

I agree with Mel: go for no annual fee, definitely. Other than that, it depends on what you want most. 1% cash back is a nice perk as are travel miles, but usually those travel miles still require a fee of around $100 per ticket to redeem. Read the fine print.

Thanks for the tips. I got one that pays 1% cash back on all purchases. I like that better than sky miles.

You should really look for one that has rewards you are interested in. For example, I have a gas rebates card (saves me A LOT at the pump), I have a airline miles card, which I have flown to several places because, and I got them all here (spam deleted)

Approval for a CC without any history on your credit reports can be difficult for some. Almost like no credit is just as bad as well, bad credit. Two options: talk with your bank or credit union that you have an established relationship with, they are more likely to grant you credit than CCCs...afterall they know better. Or apply for a BoA Visa unsecured card and if they turn you down, they might offer you a secured card. BoA is known to graduate secured card holders to unsecured after several months of on time payments.

Smart... random question... why do you keep posting this question all over the place? You can get a cash advance on your cc if it has that feature or transfer balances if offered by the cc company. It's not hard and instructions for both should be included in your statement info.
