Secured credit cards
Hi I have migrated to the United States a little over a year now and have been without a credit card. So i have no credit history. What I would like to know is would I be eligible for a secured credit card and how and where can i get one? is it easy to get approved? I am employed as a part time employee at a electronics retailer.

You should be - any bank would be able to set you up. Secured cards are basically debit cards because your limit is equal to the cash you deposit.
Good luck and welcome to the USA!

Look for a card that doesn't charge an application fee. Every secured card charges an annual fee, and they vary dramatically. Read the fine print. Some people have gotten secured cards and found their entire limit consumed with fees before they ever used the card.

Contact all the major banks to see what they can offer, everyone at one stage needs to start off and don’t have any credit rating, so wont be too hard to find. Don’t expect the best borrowing limit straight away but eventually you can build it up.
