Default Best card for a student with no credit history ?

Hi all .. This is my first post here so please forgive me if I'm doing anything wrong ..

Anyways, so the thing is I don't know much about credit cards as I've never really used one till now (I've been on debit cards till now), and I think its time I delved into the world of credit cards ..

I've an international student and I've been in the US for a little over a year now, but till now I haven't been able to build any credit history .. I've been using a Wachovia (now becoming Wells Fargo) Check Card till now ..

So which credit card would be the best for my situation (no credit history) ? I would like to get a card which has no fees and has some cashback options ..

Thanks in advance for all your help

you might want to try orchardbankcard. the initial limit is low and there may be an annual fee. STAY AWAY from CAPITAL ONE, they promise great things, and may even give you a card with a great rate and limit but how they report to the 3 CB isn't so great. they also are not that easy to deal with if you start to have financial problems and their late and over limit fees are horrible.

Try the Chase Freedom credit card. I think it's 1% cash back or 5% on certain things for 3 months at a time. Not bad.

Have you tried contact your bank that you have your current account with. All the major banks offer credit card for students but sometime they can offer high interest rate because it hard for student to gain credit cards. i would got for a card that offers 0% on purchase for the first 3 to 6 months if you can get one.
