Basic stuff to advanced stuff. I want to expand my knowledge on the topic and a good, meaty discussion sounds like a good way to go.
So for instance..... does it really matter how often you send dispute letters to the credit bureaus?

I would say it doesn't matter but some credit reporting agencies might cry "frivilous disputes" if you keep disputing the same items...this is especially true with EX, the evil brainchild of the three agencies.
What are you disputing? Is it an item that is not yours or is it something reporting inaccurately?

An inaccurate item. Makes sense about the "frivolous disputes." What's the deal with EX though, if you don't mind talking some dirt.

EX is notorious for it's "electronic verification". What does this mean, well just about any dispute with EX will be verified electronically and they never produce hard copy proof of what they are verifing. Getting anything deleted from EX, even if the item is not yours is nearly impossible.
It seems more credit card companies are pulling from EX because they think they are the most reliable CRA of the three. Also, there is no question that EX updates the fastest, both the good and bad stuff.

How can they get away without providing proof? I thought that was written into the FCRA....?

You're exactly correct! If after disputing and getting no where with EX's verification method, it's best to write a MOV/ITS (method of verification/intent to sue) combo letter to EX. This in some instances will get them to comply with FCRA laws and the they might delete accounts that are not yours and/or correct the inaccurate reporting.

Personally, I wouldn't pay anyone or any service to help repair my credit. I say DIY and save $$$! There's nothing they can do that I can't do on my own!
