Default Trying to pay for two alternative medical providers

not covered on my state insurance plan and have to do it before I get my tax return in February.

Midwife payment due by baby's birth in Jan.
Chiropractor payment needed for year of care

Midwife has already written off $1000
    Chiro has written off $1700

    Total left after the write-off:
    $4500

both have been incredibly gracious, patient and believing in me.

    Credit score in the 620s

I work part-time, good stable job, just barely making all the bills. Hubby has been job-seeking for 6 months to no avail (yes, supermarkets, gas stations, anything, he's applied). Hubby also part-time student (not able to go full-time b/c of out of state tuition) with small federal grant.

Usually receive $2000 for holiday gifts (set amount from in-laws and g-ma in-law) and should have a large tax refund in Feb with EIC and two child credits.

I don't think I can get a cc to cover this with my score. probably not a loan either, i'd guess, without a co-signor and no one is willing to do that.

    Any ideas?

And please, no judgment on my choices for providers. I do have state-health and could have a covered birth with an OB but I am not comfortable with that for many many many personal reasons.

    Thanks

also, am finishing up a car loan in the next four months which we've been paying since 2006, in good standing. But we need another car (current car won't fit three carseats in back) by the time baby comes.

    in case that helps.

So you'd have a balance left of $2500 after Christmas gifts, assuming you use it all for bills. Is this right?

Have you or hubby looked at plasma donation? It's not much, but every little bit helps, right. I'm sure he's tried temp agencies of all sorts, but if not he definitely should. It seems like there's almost always a project here or there that people need help with.

You've probably considered all those options already but who knows, maybe not.

At any rate, good luck and let us know what you figure out.

    Thank you for your responses.

No plasma donation centers in the area. DH and I are both on minor medications that are not approved for donation (I used to donate before being kicked off b/c of them).

Yes, we'll have $2500 after Christmas money is used. AND, I would be surprised if our tax return isn't in the $4000-5000 range BUT we won't have that until it's well past our time frame for the money needed to pay.

811park, I'm not sure if you were responding to me or starting your own thread.

And, yes, we're signed up with the temp agencies with not much help.

Jen - maybe one of the tax return advance programs would work for you? I think H&R Block does that.

ooh, hadn't thought about that. we do have an excellent independent tax guy that doesn't charge us so I'd have to think about it a bit because we wouldn't be able to use him, then.

Well, you could ask him what he thinks - maybe he knows somebody or can still do everything so that you have to pay minimal fees to the other company.

Let us know if that works out for you and good luck!
