    Default respond within 30 days

Has anyone ever heard that if you contact a creditor in writing, in regards to debt on your credit report that if they don't respond within 30 days, the debt is considered void? Probably just some nonsense that I heard in an idle conversation, but I figured it would be worth looking into.

I don't think that is true. I think it's something more like if they don't respond within 30 days then they can't continue reporting to the credit bureaus until they provide proof of the debt or something like that.

When you open a credit dispute with the 3 agencies, Trans Union, Equifax, and Experian they send a letter to the creditor regarding the item in question and the creditor has 30 days to respond to the dispute. If they do not respond the item in question would be corrected or removed from the credit report.

Are you talking about a DV (debt validation) letter to a CA 9collection agency?
