my husband passed away; need credit help
My husband passed away in April. He had a credit card that was only in his name. I informed them of his passing and immediately paid the balance owed on the card. They told me they would close the account.
Today I received a letter from the hospital telling me they credited the card with a refund for overpayment.
I contacted the credit card company; yes they have received the credit. They said they wll issue a check made to my husband's "estate". Everything we had was jointly owned; therefore there was no"estate". We have no children and no heirs other than each other.
I had a similar problem with an insurance company that needed to issue refunds. The Bank would not allw me to deposit the check in a joint account; The insurance company reissued the checks to me after I completed an affadavit.
How difficult do you think it will be to get the credit card company to reissue the check in my name only?

My guess is they have a policy/procedure for this exact situation, so probably would need to jump through a few hoops but probably not too bad.

You will have to get in touch with the administrator and see what their policy is. I am sure do to the circumstances they will work with you.
