Question Fico score for Financing a Car

    I have 3 seperate fico scores ..637, 659,655.
I want to finance a used car,of about 10 thousand, with 4 thousand down,,I am afraid to approach a salesman..All I need is to be turned down and it goes as a rejection on my credit report then the score goes lower? I just don`t know what fico scores banks take on buying a car these days...I am 60 and over the hill.

With whom do you bank? I'd call them first and ask them what their credit criteria is right now and if you'd qualify. It really depends on the creditor as to what credit profiles they will loan to.

You are smart to not run up a lot of inquiries on your report, though, as you are right about that dinging your scores each time. Not because of a "rejection" - just because you had someone run your credit.
