    Default Credit Reporting Question

I am moving to Atlanta, Ga, and had to pay a $75 application fee so the real estate agency could run my credit. I figure that since I paid for it, they should provide me with a copy of the report. Their response was:

"As to t heir credit report, we, for some reason, are not supposed torelease it to the Tenants".

This does not seem fair to me. Am I wrong?

    Thanks!

I'm not sure what the typical procedure is when applying to lease a home. However, when you apply for a mortgage, the loan officer can provide you a special copy of your credit report.

At any rate, you can get a copy of your report for free at www.annualcreditreport.com, and it doesn't ding you for an inquiry.

Thanks for the suggestion Magic. I did not know that if I checked my own credit I wouldn't get dinged. I was just going off the notion that every house I've purchased I have been given a copy of my report, and then to hear the real estate agency say that they're not supposed to give me a copy of MY credit report that I paid them for seemed a little questionable.

    Thanks again.
