    Default Anyone been a victim?

Just curious if anyone has had the unfortunate experience of having their identity stolen and what, if any, lessons were learned that could be shared with the rest of us?

    Thanks in advance

I haven't personally been a vicitim but I have had many clients that have. It's credit card fraud that happens most often. It can be a long and slow process to prove your innocence and get these removed from your credit file. I would suggest checking your credit report regularly to spot if you've become a victim as soon as possible.

    Other tips include:

    - Shred your mail rather than just throwing it in the trash.
    - Check your bank and credit card statements for unfamiliar transactions as soon as they arrive.
    - If you move home, ensure your mail is forwarded to your new address.
    - Don't carry personal documents around with you, e.g. passport or driving license.
    - Never share personal infomration with friends or family.
    - Be careful about which websites you use.
    - Use anti-virus software to protect your computer.
