Default What happens to collections when you pay original creditor

Thank you first for taking the time to read and answer my questions.I sent the dispute letter to Audit and Adjustment - they sent me a letter back that says they marked the account as disputed and will be reported to the national credit reporting agencies.Mind you I did not change your dispute letter at all. Also I was told that if I could get valley medical center to cash a check - that that

I'm also curious about this. CCWO? Is it bad to pay the collections off?

If you pay the collections, it doesnt really help your score that much. You may see a 5 point increase tops. If it gets removed you will see a score increase of 20-30 points. So the only way I would pay it would be if it was a pay for delete. Other wise you should try to dispute it with the CRA's. I had a target account that went to collections with Asset Acceptance. I ended up settling for half with them (did this about 4 years ago when I knew nothing about credit and collections) it did not help my score at all. If I knew what I know now I would of never paid it. Now if I really think they were going to sue me, i might reconsider, but the chance of them actually sueing you are slim to none. So my advice is not to pay. Send them a DV letter then dispute with the CRA's.
