Thread: Raise credit score question. Paid off accounts how much will my score improve

I would like to ask about credit scores. my son and I are trying to improve our credit scores. my son paid off all debts on his credit reports ( all three) and I am working onmine too. His score was 515 554 596 mine is 503 520 544 with all paid off do you know how high this will raise our scores. And how long does it take to do so. Thank You so much----------------------------just do not close

It depends. If they are charge offs you may see a very small increase. Could be up to two years if they were charge off before you see a substantial increase in your score. If they were just credit card debts that were not charge off you should see an increase in a couple of months. Again wont be that significant becauyse I am sure you have a bunch of lates with that low a credit score. You best bet would be to get a couple of new cards, if you do not have any, and start a new positive credit history. Making payments on time and not utilizing more than 30% of available credit. After time you will see you score begin to rise. They do have credit cards for people with bad credit. Just dont max them out and pay them off in full everymonth. Also you need to start disputing all you neg. on your credit report with the credit bureaus. You can visit creditboards.com for more specific ways to do this. Good luck.
