Default Please give me some advice on this. I'm so frustrated.

Well, I just got back from a 7 month deployment with the Navy and during my cruise I decided I wanted to buy a house when I return because I retire in 3 years. Three years prior I got a divorce from my wife and my credit was bad. She was a spender when I went on deployments. I finally repaired my credit after that except one credit card which was 4,000 dollars. The other 3 credit cards I had are 200 dollars or less. So my credit was good. I kept up on all the payments unlike my ex dis when I was always gone. Well, I remarried and I wanted my credit to be perfect to buy a home when I came back from deployment so I joined Consumer Credit Counceling. They would take a lump sum and pay my credit cards while I was out to sea. My new wife wanted me to handle all the finances and I also thought this would allieviate the burden of her trying to make payments to my credit cards. So this credit counceling people and I talked and they told me not to worry about paying the cards for the month I started the program and they would take care of it. So I started the allotment of 281.00 a month to them to pay the cards. I went to sea and thought everything was taken care of. I talked to my wife and she said she got three letters in the mail saying im late on paying my credit cards. So when I hit port, think I was in Abu Dabi, I called them and they told me it wasn't there fault that I should of paid that month. So I was told two different things. I called the credit card companies and they said they couldn't do anything and that it wasn't their fault. So that one missed payment to each of them carried on for four months before I found out about it. The internet on the ship was crap and I couldn't access the sites to see what went on. So my credit got screwed. I got everything caught up on my own, canceled the Credit Counceling people. I then wrote the three cards that were dinging my credit report, emailed CEO's, presidents, and everyone. Nobody could help me. Nothing could be done. I talked with a mortgage lender and she ran my credit and told me i'm only 19 points away from being approved for the home loan. 19 freaking points. She said we can try back in two months to see if things change. I have to have a 620 to be approved. It's really frustratrating and it is my fault that this happened. I guess it's a learning mistake. So do any of you know how I can raise my credit score by 19 points in two months? I don't know what to do. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

19 points isn't too bad. Time is probably your biggest ally here, so keep making payments on time and don't let anyone pull your credit (each inquiry dings you a few to several points).

Another thing you could try would be what is called a good will letter. Basically, you write to the credit card companies and explain the situation and ask for them to remove or cut back on the negatives they are reporting to the beauras. This is like your calls and emails to various people, but sometimes written letters can make a difference.

    Best of luck!

Are you able to consult a solicitor to see if you can sue the company? They usually record calls but if you have anything in writing to back it up then even better. You have nothing to lose to see if you can sue. And with regards to the 19 points you will just have to take it on the chin and carry on paying on time and you will get approved in a few months.
