judgment lien bureaucracy
Hey all,
trying to clean everything up in anticipation of mortgage shopping. Aside from my student loan, which is small and paid on time, I owe nothing. However, I have pulled my credit report and found a number of entries that need to be cleaned up, to include 4 dockets with the queens county clerk for business tax.
I had originally thought this situation resolved: Someone had opened a business in my name and collected no taxes, or did any filings. The court made up dollar amounts to post against me on dockets. I dealt with the situation with nys tax agency and they gave me paperwork, which I still have to find that should have cleared all four dockets. As i said, all four are still on the report.
Called the clerk with the number on the report, gave me a dead line. After several google searches, and numerous phone calls, finally got the court clerk who stated that two were resolved, and two were outstanding. Further, the two resolved required me to send a $10 fee to the court for each docket just to clear it from my report, which is extortion in my opinion.
Called the tax agency again, they said they needed LE or DTF numbers in order to even find the dockets in question, which I don't have since I didn't initiate the license in the first place. Without the dockets removed from my report, I'm sure that I'm losing at least a hundred points on my credit score which probably kills my marketability for a good low interest mortgage.
Any ideas on how to access and clear this from my report?

So I'm guessing you aren't able to find the paperwork given to you previously, documenting all 4 instances as being resolved? Seems like that would take care of it all without much more hassle.

I have it somewhere in my records at home...havn't been there in a few days (work and other things) point is that the court is still charging me the 10 bucks per regardless of the fact that it was cleared. New York sucks when it comes to fees and surcharges.

Oh, yeah, that sucks. That's why I don't like government running things... because they don't have anybody over them to make sure they don't take advantage or exploit the people.
