Default How to remove accurate items from report?

I have been doing a lot of reading on building credit as I am trying to do so. I have heard that you can ask for accurate items to be removed as well. I only have a few derogatory items on my credit report between the "3" agencies and each one is under $100. The items can be verified and the info is correct, dates, amounts, etc... However, I would like to get them removed. I want to have some backing against the creditors as they claim that once info is on your report it stays for 7 years no matter what! I know they are just saying that because most people don't know any better. I have one that I cleared because of incorrect balance, pretty easy actually. But I would just like to pay the debts and have them removed, I am even willing to pay more if they remove them.

Am I chasing a dream here or is there some strategy to do this?

Any FCRA laws that will back me on them being able to remove items accurate or inaccurate?

I am young and was stupid but trying to get my life back together. Any help is very much appreciated!!!

    Thank You
    Josh

One approach is to use what's called a "good will" letter sent directly to the creditor. Basically, you're asking them to "be a pal" and stop reporting the negative to the bureaus and you love them and want to be their client again and are sending any owed money to them (include the money!).

It is true and it has worked before! I called one and expressed exactly that over the phone. When I was 18 I grabbed onto a Heilig Meyers card to buy some Christmas gifts. Later on I decided I would be dumb and let it go. So about 9 years ago I made a call to them after I realized how dumb I was and they agreed to re-write the account, close and remove the old account, re-activate the card, and we were married until I restored my scores.
