How do i pay down credit cards to raise my score fast
If I need to payoff my credit card balances to raisemy credit scores, what is the best way? Do I attackone card or put any extra money towards all cards? DoI focus on a higher interest rate card or concentrateon paying off a particular card one by one? If I havea high debt to credit ratio how willing are thecreditor to lower an interest rate. I have never hada late payment, but I do owe too
Paying down the cards with the highest interest rates first makes the most sense to me, just based on lowering the overall interest burden. Then, with extra net positive cash flow you can begin paying down other balances to get them all under 50% of the credit limit, which I believe is the cutoff for lowering scores (right?).
35% is what I am told. But, I went ahead and checked some bureaus I had and found one that was over 35 but under 50 on the only card they had and they still had the remark "balances too high in relation to credit limits"
FICO 2008 is coming though..
