Free Credit Reports
Hi I am just trying to repair my credit and want to see the progress, and yes I rather see my EXACT score, but I need the general idea that I am on the right track... I am using creditkarma.com right now, really cool site, and i heard the scores may be up to +/-50 points, but for free, no credit card, anything, and seems pretty secure from what I read and they dont store your ss#, anyone else can vouch for this site? Or any other truly free site?

I'm not sure that things such as creditkarma are worth their while. Without seeing your exact credit information, their is no way that an accurate credit score can be produced.
I know a number of people that have used free sites such as this, and then compared the scores to their real credit reports. There's normally a fair difference between the scores on each site. Often this is because people are unaware of what information is actually on their credit report & the type of effect that information has on them.
I'll give creditkarma a go and let you all know how close the score was to the credit score the Equifax site gave me!Last edited by Magic69; 03-31-2009 at 05:02 PM.

Just seen that the creditkarma website is an american one, whereas my credit score is for the UK...... not really much point in me trying to compare the 2 services.
Oh well...... never mind - don't say I didn't try!

You can go to equifax.com for your free credit report once a year. All three credit agencies allow you to view your report once a year free of chage. The score is $7.95.
I believe equifax has the most accurate scoring.

www.annualcreditreport.com is the site the FTC says is the one and only site for your free annual credit report. You can also access it directly through each credit bureau site.
All other sites have strings attached. Such as using a credit card to sign up or having to cancel some sort of membership within 30 days. Even freecreditreport. com says the free report requires enrollment in the triple advantage program.
You can simply visit each credit bureau site and pull scores directly through them. There is no need to use any other site for accessing your credit reports or your score.

If you are putting in the effort to repair your credit, I would spend the money on a credit report, I know equifax has a good deal and they will email you any changes to your report, which is huge when trying to fix your credit, they have some great tools. If you are serious about fixing your credit, I would recommend you pay for the credit service, but great job trying to fix it yourself, the credit repair places are mostly worthless! Any other information you need please contact me!
