credit in 15 months
i did alot of research, depending on how long ago you filed if you did, i waited three months and applied for a credit card (unsecured), you want to apply to one with a 300 limit. like orchard bank.. charge on it but when you pay your bill pay more than the min payment but less than the total and go from there i hope this helps if you have anymore questions please feel free to ask..... BEST OF LUCK>>> janine

Paying more than your minimum payment does not in anyway affect your credit score... however you want to keep your balances down below 30% of your limit. That is what does affect your score. There are a lot of misconceptions about what does and doesn't affect your score. I'm a board certified credit expert. Certified by the National Board of Credit Education. If you learn how credit works you can increase your chances of improving your credit quicker. You MUST have open credit after a BK. We are only rated on what is OPEN and ACTIVE. Once all your accounts are closed out from the BK, you will need to start building new credit as quickly as you can. Some account like Orchard or First Priemer will qualify you but the INterest rates are horrible. You are better off going with a secured credit card. You do NOT get more points for an unsercured account. It's irrelevant and has nothing to do with your score. Please see my article "The Truth About Credit Scores"

Hi
I think you might have opted for insolvency in relation to bankruptcy proceedings or Individual Voluntary Arrangements.

Bankruptsies do not have to stay on your report for 7-10 years. I've had them removed 30 days after discharge and legally. Sometimes it does take a year or two but it can be done and it's much better than waiting 10 years!
