Default bad debt doesnot hurt my credit score after 24 months or 2 years

Thank you for answering my questions so promptly. I have another question, if I may. I heard after a bad depth is 2 years old or older it no longer affect the credit score. Is this true? And if so, how fast and how much can your score rise? In a message dated 3/3/2008 10:58:43 A.M. It does still hurt just not as much. Pretty sure the term is called stale.
