Default Recession strategy - are you doing anything differently?

I'm really not. I'm lucky enough to still have my job (knock on wood) and am spending normally.

I personally believe that sticking with a reasonable way of life is what will bring us all out of this mess. To me, that means living within your means and paying your bills. It doesn't necessarily mean saving every last penny you can, because there are economic benefits to spending as that is how our economy grows.

Spending money you don't have is really what got us into this mess. At least that is my opinion.

Anybody trying some different strategies?

I have ...just as a precaution. I have stopped eating out so much for lunch and brown bag it everyday now. I also don't go to the movies as often. I'm still in a good place financially but just want to be careful.

So what are you doing with the money saved? Are you putting it in a savings/checking account or paying down principal on some debt or something else?

I put the extra cash in my savings account. I am also reading up on the stock market. I am thinking about trying that to see a better return on my money. Currently reading "The Intelligent Investor" by Benjamin Graham.
